i aspire....

to be like the most fabulous photographer, Richard Avedon.
he was pure genius and everything I love in a photographer.
he captured raw emotion and personality flawlessly.
i found this quote by him the other day about the lovely audrey,
'"I am, and forever will be, devastated by the gift of Audrey Hepburn before my camera.
I cannot lift her to greater heights. She is already there. I can only record. I cannot interpret her.
There is no going further than who she is. She has achieved in herself her ultimate portrait."

i guess even the most fabulous hit walls eventually.

everyone dancing merrily

hey, merry december from these friends.
while we enjoyed decorating my mother's tree,
it made me very excited for the impending holiday
and all of its good feelings and events (including my birthday ;) )

hope ya know, we had a hard time

i normally don't share much concerning faith or messages of gospel power,
but this is something that has relevance to me.
and no matter what you may think of faith or religion,
this is something we all could hear.

ps. i love this school and the things we learn at it. like this.

i came back

my break was good.
and it was fun.
and all of the other wonderful things it should have been.
i have come back thinking,

i love pumpkin pie.
and every year before this that i spent without having pumpkin pie was a stupid choice.
i also love my family and small moments of hilarity
between the busy and loud hustle that so normally fills the house.
i love the lessons i'm learning both from my education and life,
and i don't think i would trade what i'm learning and doing for the easier and simpler life i had before.
and i love movies. i genuinely love movies and that i have a friend who loves them as much as i do.

just chugging away

and this my friends is what finishing a large design project right before thanksgiving break looks like.
this all consuming graphically designed photobook that will determine a large portion of my final grade
was exactly what i want to be stressing over right now.
so naturally, i watched new moon first,
thought long and hard about how much i really wanted to just be done and go home
and then thought even longer and harder about how much i wanted this book to absolutely rock.
and that, my friends, is what i am doing now.

yes, i look like my mother.

and i sound like her too now.
because "is it too much to ask, just for you to rinse out your dishes first?"
is not something you pick up on your own.
and shaking out your shirts before you fold them
is not something you pick up at the laundromat either.
so whether you may think it or not mother,
i am very much your daughter
and i have very much began to realize how much we are the same.
and i like it.
